Correction services in the Netherlands

Dutch crews choose between commercial network RTK, crowd-sourced base stations, satellite-delivered corrections and their own base. The Netherlands has no public real-time network for general use.

TypeTypical operatorWhat to check
Commercial network RTKA private provider with stations across the Benelux and beyond. How many correction sources serve your area, the published service level and its remedy, whether one account works across borders, and whether a trial is offered.
Crowd-sourced networkIndependent owners hosting single base stations.Distance to the nearest base, station uptime, and how each base was surveyed.
Satellite or state-space (PPP-RTK, SSR)A provider broadcasting an error model without a local base.Convergence time, accuracy and vertical performance.
Your own baseYour crew, on a surveyed point. The survey of the base point, range, and the time spent setting it up and guarding it.

Coordinates and heights

RTK Premium delivers ETRS89 (ETRF2000, epoch 2010.0), with ellipsoidal heights. RD coordinates and NAP heights are both computed from ETRS89 through the official RDNAPTRANS procedure, so apply it in your controller or office software rather than a seven-parameter transformation, and measure a known control point before relying on the results. On a project that crosses into Belgium, agree one coordinate system for the whole project before you start.

Setup

  1. Start the 14-day free trial on this site, or order a subscription. Your account arrives by email within two working hours.
  2. Enter the caster rtkpremium.xyz, port 2101 and mountpoint COMMON in your controller or receiver, with the username and password from your account.
  3. Measure a control point you trust before the job starts, and compare the result with its published coordinates in your project's frame.

Industries using precise positioning or RTK corrections in the Netherlands

Flood defences: The Netherlands has just over 3,700 km of flood defences: dikes, dunes, dams and storm surge barriers. Reinforcing and monitoring them depends on precise heights in NAP. (Rijkswaterstaat, accessed Nov 2026)

Waterways: Rijkswaterstaat maintains 6,300 km of waterway, including 92 lock complexes that 780,000 ships pass through each year. Dredging, bank works and bridge clearance all need positions and heights to the centimetre. (Rijkswaterstaat, accessed Nov 2026)

Port: The Port of Rotterdam handled 428.4 million tons in 2025. Quay construction, terminal paving and container yard layout are set out from surveyed control. (Port of Rotterdam, 2025)

Farmland: Dutch farms used 1,799,000 hectares for crops in 2024, and the number of farm businesses fell below 50,000, from 97,000 in 2000. Auto-steer and controlled traffic on that land need a correction that holds pass after pass. (CBS, 2024)

Housing construction: Permits were issued for nearly 86,000 new-build homes in 2025, and 69,000 were completed, according to preliminary figures. Plot setting-out and groundworks on those sites run on centimetre positioning. (CBS, 2025)

Questions about RTK in the Netherlands

Which RTK correction service covers the Netherlands?

RTK Premium covers the Netherlands with 2+ networks and a 99.9% monthly service level in the Eligible Area. Vlieland and Schiermonnikoog have no RTK Premium network today, and the coverage map shows the networks at any site.

Is there a free RTK network in the Netherlands?

The Netherlands has no public real-time network for general use. Community networks host free single base stations of varying quality, so check what each one commits to on availability and support.

Which frame should RTK corrections use in the Netherlands?

Use ETRS89, then compute RD coordinates and NAP heights with RDNAPTRANS.

Can I use one RTK account in the Netherlands and Belgium?

With RTK Premium you can: the same credentials, caster and mountpoint work in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg and across their borders.

How much does RTK Premium cost in the Netherlands?

Prices depend on the number of devices, the term and the product, and we quote them after a short call. The 14-day trial needs no payment.

Do I need my own base station?

No. Network RTK builds the correction for your position from the surrounding stations, so there is no base to set up, survey or guard.

Can I try RTK Premium before I buy?

Yes. The trial runs for 14 days on your own receiver, with full access to the RTK Premium network.
