Coordinates and heights

RTK Premium delivers ETRS89 (ETRF2000, epoch 2010.0), with ellipsoidal heights. Official Norwegian coordinates use EUREF89, the national realisation of ETRS89, so apply the projection and the height conversion in your controller or office software: EUREF89 UTM in zone 32, 33 or 35 for mapping, or an NTM zone for building and construction, and NN2000 heights through the national height reference model. On 14 October 2026 the national mapping agency began introducing an updated NN2000 realisation and model, which change heights by up to 10 cm in limited areas between Agder and Møre og Romsdal, so confirm which one your project uses. Check against a national control point before cadastral or control work.

Industries using precise positioning or RTK corrections in Norway

Farmland: Norway had 36,439 agricultural holdings in 2025, and 9,413 of them grew grain or oilseeds. Drilling, spraying and drainage on that land need a correction that holds pass after pass. (Statistics Norway, 2025)

Hydropower and wind: Norway had 34,666 MW of installed hydropower capacity and 5,063 MW of wind capacity in 2025. Dams, turbine foundations and power line routes are set out from surveyed points. (Statistics Norway, 2025)

Roads: The national road authority laid new asphalt on 850 km of national roads and opened 60.4 km of new national road in 2025. Resurfacing, tunnel works and new road links are staked and checked against design. (Norwegian Public Roads Administration, 2025)

Rail: The national rail infrastructure manager is responsible for about 4,200 km of railway track. Track renewals, new double track and station works are measured against design to the centimetre. (Bane NOR, Annual Report, 2025)

Forestry: Harvests of industrial roundwood for sale reached a record 12.8 million cubic metres in Norway in 2025. Forest roads and harvest areas are mapped and laid out from surveyed points. (Statistics Norway, 2025)

Questions about RTK in Norway

Which RTK correction service serves Norway?

RTK Premium serves mainland Norway with network RTK in ETRS89, and the coverage map shows the networks at any site. Svalbard has no RTK Premium network today.

Is there a free RTK network in Norway?

The national mapping agency runs a real-time network on a paid annual subscription, with a free one-month test for new customers. Community networks host free single base stations of varying quality, so check what each source commits to on availability and support.

Which frame and heights should RTK corrections use in Norway?

Use ETRS89, then project to EUREF89 UTM in zone 32, 33 or 35, or to an NTM zone for construction, and convert to NN2000 heights with the national height reference model.

Do I need my own base station?

No. Network RTK builds the correction for your position from the surrounding stations, so there is no base to set up, survey or guard.

How much does RTK Premium cost in Norway?

Prices depend on the number of devices, the term and the product, and we quote them after a short call. The 14-day trial needs no payment.

How accurate is RTK in Norway?

In a fixed solution under good conditions, RTK Premium reaches under 1.5 cm horizontally and 2.5 cm vertically.

Can I try RTK Premium before I buy?

Yes. The trial runs for 14 days on your own receiver, with full access to the RTK Premium network.
