Finnish crews choose between commercial network RTK, crowd-sourced base stations, satellite-delivered corrections and their own base, and the national mapping agency offers free DGNSS corrections and station data for post-processing.
| Type | Typical operator | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| National reference network | The national mapping agency, with free DGNSS and post-processing data, and RTK access only for research and development. | Whether real-time RTK is offered for your use, by whom, and on what terms. |
| Commercial network RTK | A private provider with stations across Finland and beyond. | How many correction sources serve your area, the published service level and its remedy, the term, and whether a trial is offered. |
| Crowd-sourced network | Independent owners hosting single base stations. | Distance to the nearest base, station uptime, and how each base was surveyed. |
| Satellite or state-space (PPP-RTK, SSR) | A provider broadcasting an error model without a local base. | Convergence time, accuracy and vertical performance. |
| Your own base | Your crew, on a surveyed point. | The survey of the base point, range, and the time spent setting it up and guarding it. |
RTK Premium delivers ETRS89 (ETRF2000, epoch 2010.0), with ellipsoidal heights. Official Finnish coordinates use EUREF-FIN, the national ETRS89 datum, so apply the projection and the height conversion in your controller or office software: ETRS-TM35FIN, the national projected coordinate system, or an ETRS-GKn zone, and N2000 heights through the geoid model the national mapping agency published in 2024. The two realisations can differ slightly, so check against a national control point before cadastral or control work.
Farmland: Finland had 39,825 agricultural and horticultural enterprises in 2025. Drilling, spraying and drainage on those farms run on guidance that holds pass after pass. (Natural Resources Institute Finland, 2025)
Forestry: Finland's harvest of logs and pulpwood for industry and export reached 62.8 million cubic metres in 2025. Forest roads, stand boundaries and harvest areas are mapped from surveyed points. (Natural Resources Institute Finland, 2025)
Roads: Finland's highway network totalled 77,828 km at the end of 2025. Resurfacing, widening and junction works on those roads are staked and checked against design. (Statistics Finland, 2025)
Rail: Finland's state rail network was 5,916 km long at the end of 2025, with 6,740 km of main track. Track renewals, electrification and new lines are measured against design to the centimetre. (Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency, 2025)
Electricity: Finland produced 79.9 TWh of electricity in 2024. Wind farm foundations, substations and power line routes are laid out from surveyed points. (Statistics Finland, 2024)
RTK Premium serves mainland Finland with network RTK in ETRS89, and the coverage map shows the networks at any site.
The national mapping agency's positioning service offers free DGNSS corrections and station data for post-processing, and it grants RTK access only temporarily, for research and development. Community networks host free single base stations of varying quality, so check what each source commits to on availability and support.
Use ETRS89, then project to ETRS-TM35FIN or an ETRS-GKn zone and convert to N2000 heights with the national geoid model.
No. Network RTK builds the correction for your position from the surrounding stations, so there is no base to set up, survey or guard.
Prices depend on the number of devices, the term and the product, and we quote them after a short call. The 14-day trial needs no payment.
In a fixed solution under good conditions, RTK Premium reaches under 1.5 cm horizontally and 2.5 cm vertically.
